Interested in conducting reTURN the Favor walks in New Jersey this spring? Join us for a reTURN the Favor training workshop.
This training will provide information on how to rescue stranded crabs by leading sanctioned reTURN the Favor walks on New Jersey’s beaches, abiding by closed beach and moratorium regulations during rescue walks. This training will have two components- a beach walk and indoor workshop. In the workshop articipants will be provided with the materials they need to participate and learn how they can collect and submit data, contributing to management efforts. The workshop will also include a primer on horseshoe crab and shorebird biology and conservation concerns. The beach walk will walk through all the hot spots at East Point (and there are many!) and review best practices for rescuing horseshoe crabs.
Participants will select between two options: 9am on the beach, followed by the workshop inside or 9am indoor workshop, followed by a beach walk.
This training is coordinated by Citizens United for the Maurice River and will have a special focus on serving at East Point Lighthouse, but all are welcome no matter what beach you would like to serve.
